May 08: Spell News

Here is something to try during the upcoming Sabbat:

Midsummer Candle Blessing / Making

try the spell...

Next Esbat: Blue Moon
May 31 (West)

This Blue Moon is a somewhat confusing one. While people in the western hemisphere are celebrating the Blue Moon, those in the eastern hemisphere are celebrating the Honey Moon. At the end of June the situation will be reversed. This is because the next full moon reaches its fullest point at 1:04 Universal Time (UT) on June 01, which in the west is about 5 hours earlier (EST) on May 31. The Blue moon, or Thunder Moon as I refer to the Blue Moon of May, is a time to set important goals for yourself; major undertakings that will take until the next Blue Moon in 2009 to complete. Common goals are to become physically fit, or a change of career. To celebrate the Blue Moon wear pale yellows, peach and light orange. Burn candles of similar colours and incense that is a mixture of floral scents. If it rains on that day catch the rain water and yes it to bless your Circle and purify your ritual tools; alternately use water from a swift moving stream. Decorate your home with fresh flowers and make your guests treats using edible flowers and plants with honey sweetened tea to wash it down.

Next Esbat: Honey Moon
June 01 (East)

This Esbat is referred to as the Honey or Mead Moon. This is a time of transition and transformation; from fertility we enter a period of life. It's a time for us to tranform as well; from what we are into what we were meant to be. Wear yellow and amber like the colour of honey. Burn yellow and orange coloured candles. Your incense should be frankincense or myrrh. Use flowers of all kinds to decorate your home. To mark the boundaries of your Circle use shed feathers, egg shells or any other symbols of transformation. Serve your guests honey cookies or honey sweetened rolls with tea to wash it down.

Next Sabbat: Midsummer
June 21

This is the Sabbat known as Midsummer or Litha. It marks the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year and the beginning of Summer. We celebrate both the Sun and the Earth, and begin to prepare for the harvest season just around the corner; both agricultural and personal. In our personal harvests we do what we can to give back to those who have given to us. We share with the less fortunate and support our communities. During the day we celebrate the Lord and the Lady (The Sun and The Earth), but on Midsummer Night we must remember to thank the fairy folk who can be seen flitting back and forth in the guise of lightning bugs. They too have been working hard tending to our spirits and filling us with joy. To ignore them would bring trouble and disorder. Wear green, white, blue and/or yellow to celebrate the Sabbat. Burn blue and yellow coloured candles. Decorate your home (and yourself) with fresh herbs and flowers and any other seasonal greens. Your incense should be a mixture of chamomile, lavender, mugwort and rose. Serve your guests fresh breads and lavender cookies drizzled with honey and orange juice to wash it down. Don't forget to toast the Sun at dawn and leave a plate of food outside in the evening for the fairies.

Well it has been forever since I've posted a message... And even though this info here on the homepage is painfully out of date, the rest of the site hasn't been abandoned. I swear!

Right now I'm in the process of transferring all the information on the site into MySQL, and if you've taken a look around here you'll see there is a mountain of information to transfer! Once that's done I'm going to start the redesign, which will include PHP in order to automate some of the updating processes. This way I can go on with my hectic life and not worry as much about the tiny little updates.

All this will take some time however... And I'm thinking of doing away with the blog, as 99.9% of my visitor contact me by email anyway. I'll still post a bit of news when appropriate, but there probably won't be a commenting function. If there is it will just be a general one.

My newsletter (Wiccan Essentials) is still going strong and is actually due out tomorrow, so if you haven't subscribed, do so now. I've added a recipe book to the Store and will be adding a second one within the next day or so (subscribers to the newsletter will get it free on request).

The other area that is doing a brisk business is the Herbs page. I've been keeping the greenhouse busy filling orders! They're all organic and I sell in small quantities for those who just have a one-time need.

So for now, just keep your eyes on the Grimoire. There will be a new look coming soon, and the other pages are updated, so feel free to wander about.

Until later, blessed be!

Well, as is clearly visible just by scanning this page, I haven't been making any updates around here. Except one... I've put together a little recipe book. It contains an entire Mabon meal from appetizer down to nightcap. If it interests you, please visit the Magick Store.

To all the people who email me: I'm currently on hiatus. If you are looking for a spell, please try the Free Spells page before emailing. For those who want me to cast spells for them: I'm sorry, but I can't afford to do it for everyone. I just receive too many emails from people calling for help.

Magick isn't a quick fix folks. If you work a spell to find your true love, and then never leave your home, the spell was for nothing. And the help it provides may come in ways you don't expect.

Each and every one of us must find ways to enjoy life. We all get hurt and we all must find ways to survive. Find the beauty in your life and revel in it.

Blessed Be.

Yes, I've let things get a bit out of date around here again! The warm weather has returned and I need to spend as much time outside as possible. It's just too cold the rest of the year not to take advantage of the heat when it's here!

Of course this has resulted in a huge backlog of emails that stretch back almost two months. I feel bad for everyone I haven't responded to yet, but I just can't keep up right now. When this place starts to feel too much like work, I back off. I can't help it. I'm thinking of disabling the "contact me" links, or putting up an auto response message that explains what's going on.

Orders are still being filled of course, and the newsletter will be ready to distribute at the end of the month, but everything else has to wait.

What I am keeping busy with is my photography. Things are going really well and it has spurred me to spend even more time on it than I normally would. I'm also writing a bit of Wiccan fiction, which I'll probably make available as a download here on the site when it's ready. In the meantime I'll update this homepage and do a bit of housekeeping.

If you desperately need to contact me, leave a comment not an email.

Blessed be.

Okay, I've done a tiny bit of updating for those who have been waiting. Check the left side of the screen for info.

~

The weather has been so good lately! Man, I've really missed the warm temperatures. I can't believe I've survived another winter. (Burr)

Unfortunately my beloved Blue Jays are sucking lately. A good ball game is one of the many summer pleasures I do enjoy, but when they are on a 6-game loosing streak and down 9 to 2 tonight, well... it's sort of depressing. And I'm the type that will suffer through every single at bat.

Common boys! I have so very little pleasure all the long, cold winter. Don't crap up my summer too. The Lord and Lady know we here in Toronto don't have much on the sports front in general to be pleased about. You boys are all I have!

~

So at the end of May there is something of a confusing situation. The next full moon reaches its peak at 1:04AM Universal Time on June 01, so anyone in the eastern hemisphere will be celebrating the Honey Moon Esbat. Here in the western hemisphere, that full moon is happening on the evening of May 31, 5+ hours off UT, which makes it our Blue Moon... Western folks have to wait until the end of June before we can celebrate the Honey Moon, which is the eastern hemisphere's Blue Moon.

Confused yet?

Where ever you are good luck and blessed be.

Well... what a month.

April turned out to be busy beyond belief. Work, friends, and all the little things I try to do just overwhelmed me. I'll be continuing the updates around here eventually, I just need a breather!

I'm sure I've mentioned this a million times, but I'm lucky enough to have a desk in front of a huge window wall at work. It's through this window that I've had the pleasure of watching Spring arrive. Just over the past week the leaves on the trees across the street have finally burst. Flowers are blooming and the temperatures are getting mild.

There has been a bit of rain too mind you. We had a huge storm move through a week ago, and predictably I was stuck in my car right in the middle of it. The rain was coming down so hard that the only part of the car in front of me that was visible was its break lights! I watched as the wind blew newspaper boxes to the ground and fling a silly bicyclist right off his bike.

The rest of the week wasn't quite as violent weather-wise, but still damp. It follows the warmest weekend of the year which saw temperature hit the 25C mark here in Toronto. It was fabulous!!

Yes, I'm finally feeling the spirit seep back into my body. I'm also buoyed by the sale of three articles I wrote on car maintenance, the inclusion of four of my photographs in an exhibit held in a gallery in Switzerland, and an author has asked my permission to use a photo with his article appearing on the Ministry of the Environment website.

It has nudged me to spend more time writing and snapping photos. I will continue to keep things going around here, so no worries. It will just be my usual summertime lag.

Blessed be.

The word of the day is update!

Check the Resources page for three tarot spreads (3-card, 7-card, and 10-card), and a major update to the deity associations.

Yes, I did just get finished saying I was going to concentrate on the Herbals page. What can I say; I got bored and wanted to do something different.

*shrug*

~

It's been snowing on and off since yesterday, which partially lead to this update spree. The other factor has been this nasty bug I picked up somewhere. I took yesterday off work, and thankfully today was Good Friday because I haven't been able to break the fever. Add to that a couple of swollen glands that make me sound like Kermit and you can just guess how pleased I am.

Thanks to me, Easter dinner with the family has been delayed by a week. It totally sucks, because I was really looking forward to all the yummy food that gets served at our family celebrations.

Well, at least the cat is happy I'm home.

Blessed be.

How time flies...

If you've wandered over to the Herbals Page you'll see that I've been a bit busy lately. In fact this is where I'm going to be concentrating most of my efforts for the next little while. I find it easier to make progress on the site if I concentrate on one thing at a time.

Makes sense I suppose. Not as much fun for you all however. I know there are a few people waiting for new spells to be added. Still others have been asking about buying altar cloths. I'll get there... eventually.

~

The next edition of Wiccan Essentials is being mailed out on Saturday. I just wanted to welcome the new subscribers. I hope WE lives up to your expectations.

WE is actually ready to go now, but schedules need to be adhered to. It also gives anyone else who was thinking of subscribing a chance to sign up before the release date. So go... subscribe now! The more the merrier.

=o]

Blessed be.
