Card Interpretations - Major Arcana:
- 0 - The Fool0 - The Fool:
The Fool is a traveller setting out toward truth. Innocent and ignorant. He is nothing, yet has the potential for all.
Upright: Denotes immaturity and hasty or poorly considered judgements.
Inverted: It signifies the wrong choices, negligence and hesitation. - 1 - The Magician1 - The Magician:
Magus, the Juggler; known by many names, he is the master of manipulation.
Upright: Denotes skill, cunning, craft and eloquence.
Inverted: He signifies fraud, lies, corruption and dirty tricks. - 2 - The Priestess2 - The Priestess:
The keeper of hidden knowledge and mysteries. Her wisdom is feminine, intuitive, creative and spiritual, but not always rational.
Upright: Secrets are revealed, problems illuminated, and change could be in the air. It's the balance between nature and magick and the art of natural healing through passive, female power and influences.
Inverted: Should be taken as a warning against irrational behaviour. Sometimes implies confusion or obscurity. - 3 - The Empress3 - The Empress:
Mother Goddess. The furtile and nurturing Mother Earth. She is female power and love, beauty and luxury, stability and well-being.
Upright: Denotes civility and domesticity, growth, creativity and prosperity.
Inverted: Signifies family discord, or a narrow-minded and domineering female figure. Jealousy, insecurity, sexual problems or difficulties at work may also be indicated. - 4 - The Emperor4 - The Emperor:
The male symbol rich with professional or political success and status. He is strong, decisive and rational, but this could lead to war and conquest.
Upright: In a man's reading the Emperor embodies ambition realized. In a woman's reading he could represent a domineering man.
Inverted: This should be taken as a warning against weakness and self-indulgence. - 5 - The Hierophant5 - The Hierophant:
The High Priest rules the spiritual kingdom. As the male counterpart to the Priestess he exudes creative intellect, inspiration and insight. His knowledge is rational and he holds to religious tradition and occult knowledge.
Upright: Denotes profound understanding and may represent a teacher or an important advisor.
Inverted: He warns against lies and bad advice, rigidity and the spreading of dogma. - 6 - The Lovers6 - The Lovers:
Though this is an obvious symbol of love and passion, and the relationship between flesh and spirit, it also represents the choices that have to be made and the inherent responsibilities which lay therin.
Upright: They denote creativity, inspiration as well as impulsiveness and psychic gifts. Male and female complete each other suggesting a strong marriage or relationship.
Inverted: Can stand for infidelity, poor relationship choices and sexual difficulties. An ill-fated romance or unreturned love. - 7 - The Chariot7 - The Chariot:
Drawn by one male and one female horse, the Chariot signifies movement and travel; goals attained and milestones reached.
Upright: Triumph, success and good-health are possible, but not always permanent.
Inverted: Can symbolize the ruthless pursuit of success through bullying and defeat. - 8 - Justice8 - Justice:
The balance of justice, equity, fairness; all the traits associated with this card's name are symbolized. Regardless of whether it's upright or inverted, this card denotes honour, integrity, sincerity, virtue, and rewards well deserved. - 9 - The Hermit9 - The Hermit:
The Hermit abandons the world and it's pleasures in favour of solitude. Only through the reading can we determin why the Hermit does this. Is he just a pessimist; insensitive and unable to face the world; wary of emotion and fearful of losing privacy? Or does the Hermit choose solitude in order to voyage within himself; searching for enlightenment, wisdom and divinity? - 10 - Wheel of Fortune10 - Wheel of Fortune:
As the Wheel turns it reacts to the cards that surround it. Its most favourable meanings can include happiness, good fortune, wishes realized through the will of the God and Goddess, or the realization of solutions long sought. The Wheel could simply symbolize destiny and fate, the inevitability of change, cumination and the end. Its least favourable meanings include unhealthy obsession with obtaining success or reward. - 11 - Strength11 - Strength:
The basic symbols of Strength are physical power, courage and gains attained at great risk. It can also imply determination, a strong will or conviction, confidence, and a capacity to get the job done. It also carries a warning not to become belligerent, defiant, or contentious. - 12 - Hanged Man12 - Hanged Man:
Though the Hanged Man suggests punishment and suffering, it may also denote surrender or abandonment; progress, actions and thoughts suspended or stifled. Then again, it's not a gallows but a live tree from which the Hanged Man dangles, which suggests rebirth; a transition into a new life. - 13 - Death13 - Death:
Like the Hanged Man, Death suggests a life in transition; in transformation. It denotes endings and loss, failure or illness, sometimes even death itself, but it may also fortell something as simple as an unexpected change. - 14 - Temperance14 - Temperance:
Denotes balance, patience and the ability to adapt or compromise. It indicates a person's ability to manage their lives and their relationships. In readings it can represent the person's parents or a person who holds a parental influence over them. - 15 - The Devil15 - The Devil:
The Devil wields the power of materialisim and the temptations of the flesh. It warns of violence and obsession, weakness and pettiness. - 16 - The Tower16 - The Tower:
The Tower stands in destruction. It denotes war, danger and disaster (perhaps unseen), misery, poverty and disgrace. The only positive aspect it may depict is courage. - 17 - The Star17 - The Star:
The Star pours its blessings into the soul, its immortal beauty and truth unveiled. It denotes hope and faith; better things to come. However the cards that accompany it can change its meaning to arrogence, a hope deceived, loss of power - indicating a person who spends too much time dreaming. - 18 - The Moon18 - The Moon:
Symbolizing the life of the imagination, the Moon illuminates humanity's more animal nature. It foretells of lies, slander and deception, terror, danger and enemies yet revieled. It brings with it silence and instability; watch for occult power at work. - 19 - The Sun19 - The Sun:
The Sun symbolizes enlightenment from within, saving humanity from its animal nature. It denotes wealth, gain and glory; contentment and a good marital relationship. One must watch the surrounding cards however, for The Sun can also symbolize arrogance, vanity and a tendancy to be ostentatious. - 20 - Judgement20 - Judgement:
Sometimes called "Last Judgment", signifies a transformation of the soul. In readings it can denote a final decision or judgment; settlement of a matter that can be appealed no further. Though it can literally mean the loss of a legal matter, it can also denote a change, renewal or resurrection of life. - 21 - The Universe21 - The Universe:
This can be a very welcome sight in a reading, it can mean success, and just reward. It can also mean travel, a connection tot he material world. If poorly positioned it could mean stagnation; an inability to move forward. The Universe card is usually directly related to the inquirer or the subject they are asking about.

Upright: Represents a dominant person, maturity, brave or bold acts. It could also signify fulfilled goals.
Inverted: Could show the interference of others that prevents a goal from being achieved; sadness, trouble, or a loss of faith. - Three of WandsThree of Wands:
Upright: This card speaks to matters of business, trade, commerce; it denotes practicality, industriousness, and an ability for trade negotiations.
Inverted: It warns us to be wary of offered help, for the one offering may have ulterior motives. - Four of WandsFour of Wands:
Upright: The four represents romance, harmony, peace and serenity; rest after suffering through difficult times; new wealth or bountiful harvest.

Beware of betrayal followed by sorrow. The Five predicts a separation that likely has a permanent ending. It tells of challenges to commitment in love relationships. - Six of CupsSix of Cups:
Reminiscing about old loves, or possibly the return of one. The fantasies and romance from the past have been tempered by time and have lead to a sense of serenity and become a source of strength. The Six predicts the possibility of reviving a relationship with the return of an old lover. - Seven of CupsSeven of Cups:
The Seven tells of a very promising relationship which will only be realized if the proper, and realistic, choices are made. - Eight of CupsEight of Cups:
This card tells us of surrendering the emotional tie of a doomed relationship. It symbolizes depression and emptiness, and tells of an unknown future. - Nine of CupsNine of Cups:
With Nine comes the promises of pleasure, fulfillment and a treasured wish come true. Efforts are rewarded and commitment is consummated. - Ten of CupsTen of Cups:
The symbol of a love that is permanent. Contentment and satisfaction in a long lasting relationship. - Page of CupsPage of Cups:
The Page brings new emotions, new relationships, new feelings about old relationships, and/or a renewed capacity to love after a time of disappointment and withdrawal. The regeneration brings with it the possibility of the birth of a child. - Knight of CupsKnight of Cups:
Romance emerges with the Knight. The intoxication of love and falling in love; proposals of marriage are also possible. The Knight may also indicate poetic, or artistic expression. - Queen of CupsQueen of Cups:
The Queen is romantic and seductive (possibly the inquirer or may indicate "the other woman") with a deepening inner awareness. May indicate emotions and fantasies that have been previously hidden. - King of CupsKing of Cups:

Upright: A card of great extremes, the Ace can represent a triumph, a conquest, burning passion, or dire hatered.
Inverted: When inverted these extremes will have catastrophic outcomes. - Two of SwordsTwo of Swords:
Upright: The Two brings balance and can denote brothers-in-arms; comeradery and courage, but also can mean intimacy.
Inverted: The meanings change drasticly to a stuation filled with lies and duplicity; disloyalty. - Three of SwordsThree of Swords:
Upright: The Three portends a separation, a disruption to life, an absence or delay.
Inverted: Beware of mistakes and distraction; warns of loss and confusion. - Four of SwordsFour of Swords:
Upright: The Four withdraws from others. It's the card of the recluse, of exile and solitude. Can also represent a coffin or tomb.
Inverted: Stands for prudence and thrifyness; one who takes precautions and manages their affairs wisely. Can also signify greed. - Five of SwordsFive of Swords:
Upright: The Five is the mark of degradation and destruction; loss.
Inverted: The same meanings hold while inverted, but they now have the added connotations of death and burial. - Six of SwordsSix of Swords:
Upright: The Six takes a journey by water. A course has been plotted, a path or route marked. Can also indicate the arrival of a messanger.
Inverted: This card inverted brings forth a confession, or declaration. It could also indicate publicity, which may or may not be desired. - Seven of SwordsSeven of Swords:
Upright: The plans, hopes and attempts indicated by the Seven may be ill-fated, bringing annoyance and discord.
Inverted: The subject of the reading may receive some good advice or critical instructions, but they should be watchful for slander. - Eight of SwordsEight of Swords:
Upright: A crisis is brewing with the appearance of the Eight. It brings bad news, conflict, sickness, and a terrible disappointment.
Inverted: When inverted this card's meaning does not improve bringing treachery, unforseen opposition, difficulties, and possibly a death. - Nine of SwordsNine of Swords:
Upright: The Nine is a dreadful card that predicts failure and desolation, deceit and dispair; may even indicate a miscarriage.
Inverted: Beware of imprisonment, shame, and justifiable fear and doubt. - Ten of SwordsTen of Swords:
Upright: Pain, sorrow, death, desolation are all embodied by the Ten.
Inverted: Symbolizes success, power, profit, and authority over others, but be warned - this is only temporary. - Page of SwordsPage of Swords:
Upright: It indicates a secret duty, or the act of spying. It can also be an indication of management and authority.
Inverted: Things unseen and unprepared for are indicated by the Page. It also holds the same characteristics as if shown upright, but inverted have an evil cast. - Knight of SwordsKnight of Swords:
Upright: The Knight shows his skill and courage in war as well as his anger, hostility, resistance, destructive force and the possibility of death.
Inverted: When inverted the Knight indicates bad judgment and the inability to perform. - Queen of SwordsQueen of Swords:
Upright: The Queen of Swords is an unhappy one. She symbolizes a woman's sorrow, and need. She is sterile and separated from the one she loves - possibly widowed.
Inverted: When inverted the Queen becomes quite spiteful and deceitful. She's bigoted and full of guile. - King of SwordsKing of Swords:
Upright: The King holds the power to grant life or death. He uses his intelligence and judgment to uphold the law.
Inverted: When inverted the King becomes treacherous and cruel, barbaric and full of malice.
Card Interpretations - Minor Arcana - Pentacles:
- Ace of PentaclesAce of Pentacles:
Upright: The Ace brings with it good luck and favourable tidings for business endeavours. It acknowledges a job well done and a right to demand the best in life. This is a good time to look / interview for a new job, or to seek a promotion.
Inverted: Self-doubt is creeping in and money is tight. It warns against being reckless and irresponsible and to avoid those kinds of people. Spend time with people who have more than their own best interests in mind. - Two of PentaclesTwo of Pentacles:
Upright: Indicates the need to let go of the old in order to accept the new. Alternative business opportunities may make themselves known. Teamwork and brainstorming is beneficial.
Inverted: Motives when dealing with others need to be reflected upon. As long as actions are taken with integrity success will be achieved. - Three of PentaclesThree of Pentacles:
Upright: A willingness to be available has / will lead to business success. Others may be resentful if attempts are made to placate them.

Upright: The Four calls for an ethical management of money. Respect, but do not be intimidated by those in power. Ideas can lead to riches, but they still need development.

Upright: There is a need for focus in work - a specialization. Indicates strong physical desires at the time. There is a danger that discipline will interfere with happiness.
Inverted: A warning against being so sensitive and vulnerable to the suggestions of others. There is a fear of competition that is interfering with growth. Goals can be reached only if action is taken now. Fear of rejection. Partners must be told of objectives and feelings.
