This is a collection of spells I've either created, been given or gathered and adjusted to suit my needs over the years. As I mention them in the blog I'll add them here for all to try, if they aren't too dangerous. Remember that visualization is the most important part of any spell. It's critical for any Witch who wants his/her spells to work to be able to properly visualize. Please refer to the Resources page for information on visualization.

- Drying herbs
Here is a short blessing you can use during the drying process:
Grown from Earth with Mother's love
Fed by water and the Sun above

Dyad Moon Money Blessing
- several coins
Because this is such a fertile time, it's a perfect opportunity to bless all sorts of things with the power to grow. Love and passion, your circle of friends, job opportunities and success, courage, etc. Try blessing some money (either your own or that of friends) by saying something like this:
Coins that jingle in my hand
Begin to grow and fill demand
With the help of the Maiden pure
Boundless may this wealth endure

Fairy Garden Blessing
- A plot of untended garden
When planting, remember to leave one area of your garden untouched and un-weeded. If you do this the Fairies will build their homes there and bring magic to your entire garden. Offer it to them by saying something like this:
Oh my magic Fairy friends
I leave this spot for you to tend
May you live and laugh and play
And bless my garden everyday

Herb Grinding Blessing
- Herbs to be ground into powder
When you are grinding your dried herbs into powder increase their energy by saying something like this:
From Earth to air and here to there
I grind you fine with love and care
Through pestle to essence here I sow
From whole to powder on mortar you go
Round and round may your power grow
Continue to let your energy flow

Lammas Kitchen Blessing
- all the staples in your kitchen (onions, garlic, flour, cornmeal, oats, etc.)
Use this to thank the Mother for Her bounty and bless all the grains and other staple foods in your kitchen. Either on your altar or just on the kitchen counter, gather your onions and garlic, grains, and so on. Hold your hands over them and say something like this:
We thank you Mother for all that you give
This bounty that strengthens, allows us to live
Your blessing in greens, bulbs and rich browns
In those that sift, peel and are ground
As we eat these gifts from you
Your blessings flow through and through

Mabon Vegetable Blessing
- any root vegetables you wish to have with Mabon dinner (potatoes, carrots, parsnip, turnip, onion, etc.).
Wrap the vegetables in foil, then take them outside. Rake up all the dried leaves and branches into a pile then bury the vegetables in the pile before setting it on fire. As the leaves burn and the vegetables bake thank the Mother for Her bounty by saying something like this:
We thank you Mother for all that you give
This bounty that strengthens, allows us to live
Buried deep in your womb till they grew
These fruits of your labour sustain life anew
Now in the fire they cook golden brown
Then filling our bellies your blessings abound

Midsummer Candle Blessing / Making
Your Midsummer Circle is a good time to make your seasonal candles. Before the Sabbat:
- determine how many candles you want to make - at least one for each celebration;
- list all the herbs and flowers you will need;
- make note of the colours that will work best for each candle;
- then buy a quantity of pre-made beeswax sheets, wicks, and herbs
- when you are in your Circle, make the candles by spreading the herbs and/or flowers onto the individual wax sheets, then place the wick on the outer edge of the sheet and roll them up tightly while saying something like this:
Herbs and flowers, wax and wicks
In you, the power and magick I fix
When next you're called and made aglow
Let your power and magick flow
- Next you need to offer them to the Lord and Lady and the fey. Try saying something like this:
With these candles offered you
Comes my awe for each season new
Let your work be eased and light
With love and cheer and flame so bright

Ostara Home Blessing
- 4 eggs (or more), raw
Bring harmony and love to your home by planting an uncooked egg at each corner of your property. As you plant each egg say something like this:
Bring thee seeds, of new life
Ease all pain, and end all strife,
Ancient symbol of fertility
Bring to us great harmony
Love for all upon these grounds
For here is where the light abounds

Ostara Garden Blessing
- 4 cups whole milk
- 3 eggs, beaten
Use the fertility of the egg to fertilize your garden. Beat three eggs using an electric mixer before blending in 4 cups of whole milk. Bless the mixture by saying something like this:
Mixture here of life and light
Bring fertility and ward off blight
Let the seeds that you touch thrive
Sprout roots and stalks, burst forth alive
Now, go out into your garden and sprinkle the mixture on any unplanted and untilled area in which you will be planting this spring. As you do so say something like the following:
Love and life is what you bring
Touch this earth and make it sing
With plenitude and boundless yield
Abundant fertility unto this field
Next, till the soil until it is well worked and smooth then take pen and paper, spread out a blanket and plan out the organization of the crops you intend to plant.

Simple Seed Blessing
- Seeds prior to planting
As you kneel to the Earth preparing to plant the seeds, hold them in your open hand and say the following:
Grains of life here in my hand
It's time to wake and cover the land
Feel the warmth of the Sun above
Spurring your bounty with all Its love
The Earth contains all you need
To grow into plant from this small seed
Bless you now oh little one
Your time to sprout and flourish has come
Plant the seeds, cover with soil and water well.

Simple Plant Blessing
- Seedlings prior to planting
As you prepare to plant a seedling, hold it up and say the following:
In this loamy Earth below
Spread your roots and continue to grow
Tall and full may your stalks become
Green and lush are your leaves to come
Your fruit when ripe will be so sweet
And to you our thanks and health doth keep
Plant the seedling and water well before moving to the next.

Communication
Blood Charm
NOTE: This charm calls for a small sample of your own blood. If it is dangerous for you to injure yourself then DO NOT attempt this charm. NEVER allow your blood products to come in contact with anyone else and NEVER come into contact with the blood of another person. There are way too many blood borne illnesses in circulation, and no amount of magick will save you from HIV infection.
NOTE: This charm is meant to ease communication with blood relatives.
- 1 Small Pouch with drawstring
- 3 Small drops of your own Blood
- 1 Part Lavender
- 1 Part Thyme
- 1 Part Peppermint
- 1 Part Nutmeg
Mix the herbs with 3 small drops of your own blood. As you mix repeat the following three times:
Bring together these points of view
Put behind the conflicts we knew
With those that share this ancient link
Thicker than water, more lasting than ink
Lavender, Peppermint, Nutmeg and Thyme
Mixed together with my human line
Joined in harmony, never to part
Around my neck and close to my heart
Place the mixture into the pouch and hang around your neck.
When you meet with blood relatives who you are having communications problems with, feel the energy of the charm reaching out and joining you to your family member. Visualize communicating with ease.
Tip:
- Place the mixture inside a very small zip-lock bag then into the pouch to keep the mixture from coming into contact with anything else.

Group Unity
If you need to bring a group together with a unified purpose (e.g. sports team), try this spell. You will need to take a proper photograph of the group. Have that developed at a large photo shop that also creates novelty items. Have them make the photo into a puzzle - one for each member of the team.
Before you give them to the team say the following blessing, while visualizing each team member completing the puzzle and in turn visualize each as a puzzle piece coming together with the others:
Pieces many and far apart
Come together in spirit and heart
With these parts they join as one
Together in strength, 'til they've won
As a whole their might will grow
And to each, they will know
Sisters of purpose, hand to hand
Unity is now what they demand
As each piece together come
Add that sister to the sum
Until they all are joined in grace
And when each piece is in its place
Substitute "Sister" and "Sisters" with "Brother" and "Brothers" if it's an all male team/group or "People" and "Person" if the goup is mixed gender.

Wolf Moon Communication Ritual
While sitting in your Circle, imagine an image of you and a family member with whom your are having difficulties with, embracing and happy. Then imagine this picture as a puzzle, only the bottom right quarter of the puzzle is missing. Next imagine the missing piece is in your right hand. As you lift your hand and replace the missing piece say the following:
For too long this rift hath ruled
Now with joy and love retooled
Anger and hurt be at an end
With this piece forever mend

Healing Oil

Grind dried herbs into a fine powder. As you do so, say the following:

Bringing sickness to an end

- Sprinkle in the sickbed or in the recovery room.
- Sprinkle over a blue candle.

Healing Salts
- 3 Parts Niaouli
- 2 Parts Eucalyptus
- 1 Part Sandalwood
- Colour: Dark Blue
The colour is achieved by adding several drops of blue food colouring to the mixture.
Use to speed healing. Bathe only if your condition allows it. Rinse with fresh water before toweling off.

Invocation & Release
Beltane Sun Invocation
If you have a fireplace, light a fire at sundown on April 30 and keep it going until sundown on May 1 to invoke the Sun God. If you don't have a fireplace (or anywhere to safely build a fire) use a large white or yellow candle (the ones meant to burn for several days is best). As you light the fire or candle chant something like this:
God of Sun and Fire and Light
Warm the Earth throughout this night
Fill our spirits and hearts with love
Lift the darkness with light from above

Casting the Circle
Beginning in the East, point wand or sword to the ground and walk clockwise around the perimeter of the Circle three times. Visualize white energy streaming from your wand/sword marking the Circle on the ground, while saying something like the following:
Circle of Power, Circle of Rite
I draw you forth into this night
Your magick is needed here in this space
Bringing our ancestors all to this place
Where past and present and future now meet
With all their grace our ancestors greet
Preparing for Guardians yet to appear
Time now suspended and thoughts become clear
One force of power, now shines so bright
The joining of magick, in love and in light
Gathered here now in cape and in hood
The Circle is bound by all that is good

Inviting the Dearly Departed
During your Samhain ritual, invite the dearly departed into your Circle in order to honour them and give them peace.
The Samhain Circle is cast with the athame. The spirits of the Dead are welcomed through the West by drawing an invoking pentagram with the athame to open the gate. Say the following:
Spirits roaming the Earth this night
Enter this Circle and bathe in its light
Be you flora or fauna,
born of mice or men
Into this Circle you’re welcomed
Please come in, come in
We eagerly seek your counsel
Blessings we bestow upon you
Let us take your worries and pain
On this the night we honour your name
Then let us guide you on your way
Spirits roaming the Earth this night
Enter this Circle and bathe in its light
Be you flora or fauna,
born of mice or men
Into this Circle you’re welcomed
Please come in, come in
Perform any rituals you have for honouring the dead, and remember to ask Pan to bless the Spirits. Use this time with the Spirits to perform divination and allow them to speak through you.
When you are done it is VERY important that you thank the Spirits and close the gate. If you don’t close the gate the Spirits will be left walking the Earth, and they will not be happy about it. You do not need a disgruntled Spirit causing havoc in your life!
To close the gate, return to the West with the athame and say the following:
Spirits of the Dead we thank you
Oh wondrous Spirits, we bless you
May Pan the Guardian keep you safe
Follow him to the Summerland,
where you will rest and wait
Soon will come the time of rebirth,
in blessed love and light
To each of you a farewell fond
Until we again renew our bond
Use the athame to draw a banishing pentagram.

Calling the Quarters
To call the quarters begin in the East. While holding burning incense, walk the Circle in a clockwise direction saying the proper invocation below (or one like it). As you walk the Circle also picture a bright yellow light rising from the Earth behind you. Upon returning to the East, leave the burning incense and move to the next quarter.
South is next; with a burning candle follow the same steps as above, except use the invocation for the Southern Guardian and picture the rising energy as red in colour. Leave the candle in the South and move on.
For West we use a bowl of water and imagine the rising energy is blue. In the North use a bowl of salt and imagine the energy is green.
East:
O hear me great Guardian of the East
This Circle is open and waiting in peace
We ask your assistance during this rite
Lend us your power for these deeds tonight
Let all your magick and energy flow
Let your spectacular winds now blow
Clear this space of ill will and spite
As you join this Circle in a bid to do right
South:

Beginning in the North, point wand or sword to the ground and walk counterclockwise around the perimeter of the Circle. Visualize white energy returning into your wand/sword, while saying something like the following:
The Circle now open remains still unbroken
Protecting us still from all that's unspoken
In perfect Love and perfect Trust
We leave to do the things we must
Merry we met, now merry we part
Keeping the love and joy in our hearts
When you reach the North again, return to the centre of the Circle and say something like this:
This rite has now ended and I go with Love
My thanks to the Lord and Lady above
I thank the Quarters and all Others too
Fare thee well, my blessings to You

As you face each of the four quarters say the following (substitute # for the Cardinal Point):

Thanking the Lord and Lady
When the Ritual is complete you must thank the Lord and Lady for Their help and their blessings. I like to do this while toasting the deities with a glass of wine (Don't forget glasses of wine for the Lord and Lady as well!). Say something like the following to thank Them:

Thank you Great Lady for your love and your light
And the Blessings bestowed on the rite here tonight
We know that the magick you worked here with us
Will have an outcome that's true and that's just

Yule Toast to the Holly King
Stand facing the West before dawn breaks. Using apple juice, cider or apple wine while you say the following toast to the Holly King:
The longest Winter night has passed
Into the light again we cast
Thank you for the gifts you brought
Which only darkness could have wrought
Then name some of the gifts of the darkness - dreams, planning, organization, meditation, regeneration, peace, quite, etc. Drink your libation and turn to the East to see the rising of the Sun - the Oak King.

Love & Lust
Fidelity My Love
- 3 hairs from the head of the one you love
- 3 hairs from your own head
- 2 Parts rose petals
- 2 Cloves
- 1 Part rosemary
- 1 Part cinnamon
- 2 Parts rosewater
- 2 Parts honey
- 1 Part gin
- 1 glass bottle with tight fitting cap or cork (red glass if possible)
- 1 red candle
As you proceed through this spell, concentrate on overwhelming feelings of love growing in yourself and the one you love.
Begin by lighting the candle. Next grind the herbs (except for the cloves) together into a fine powder. Separately mix the liquid ingredients.
As you repeat the chant below, take the hair and knot the strands together. Drop them into the bottle. Add the cloves, then the ground herbs, and finally the liquid. Cap / cork the bottle and use the wax to seal it. Place the bottle under your bed where it won't be disturbed.
The union between me and mine
Growing stronger through all time
Never parted, tempted not
In me is the thing you've sought
Life in love that's pure and true

Love Powder
- 3 Parts Yarrow
- 3 Parts Lavender
- 2 Parts Rose Petals
- 1 Part Ginger
Grind dried herbs into a fine powder.
Uses:
- Sprinkle on the bed sheets or in the bedroom.
- Sprinkle over a red, pink or rose candle.

Love Wine
- 3 Tsp Cinnamon
- 3 Tsp Ginger
- 1 One-inch Piece Vanilla Bean
- 2 Cups Red Wine
- 2 Tsp Rhubarb Juice (optional)
Score the vanilla bean along its length and add it with the herbs into the wine. Let sit for three days and serve. As you pour the wine into the glasses say the following:
Whisper in my lover's ear
Our sweet song of hearts so near
Lives connected through thick and thin
Loyalty and devotion sealed within
Stronger bonds there have not been
And with this wine renewed again

Witches' Love Bottle
- 1 small stone (malachite or rose quartz)
- 1 bottle (pink glass if possible) with tight fitting cap/cork
- 1 handful fresh or dried rose petals, lavender, tulip and jasmine
- 1 handful fresh or dried mint, rosemary, thyme and basil
- 1/8 cup honey
- 1/2 cup of alcohol (Vodka, Gin or Rum)
- water, enough to fill the remaining space in the bottle
- pink wax from altar candles
Add the flowers and herbs to the bottle. While adding them, concentrate on love and all the wonderful feelings being in love and being loved brings. Hold the stone in your hand and concentrate on the love you want this bottle to bring you, then drop it into the bottle with the flowers and herbs.
Mix the alcohol and honey then pour it into the bottle. Then, fill the bottle with water and seal it carefully with pink wax from an altar candle. While sealing the bottle say the following:
Love in all it's glory be
From highest mountain and lowest sea
Bring that pleasure from love is known
Through flower, herb, glass and stone
With sprits pure and honey sweet
Love's enduring power keep
Place the bottle where it won't be disturbed. If you feel love's power waning, give the bottle a shake and repeat the chant.

Love Charm
- 1 red candle
- 1 part Red Rose
- 1 part Vervain Blue
- 1 part Cinnamon
- 1 part Rue
- 2 Juniper Berries
- 1 part Salt
- 1 small Quartz crystal
- 1 pink, red and white pouch, or a locket hung around the neck by read ribbon
This spell is customarily done with one of the subjects present. As the herbs are mixed it is important for them to hold the stone and concentrate on the other half of this pairing and all the love they want to share. The stone is the last thing to be added to the mix and seals the spell.
The ingredients of this spell are to be added as they come up in the casting. The quantities and size of the stone should be in amounts that will, once all mixed together, fit the locket or pouch you've selected.
Light the candle and into your mortar begin adding the ingredients while saying:
Roses red and Vervain Blue (add rose and vervain and grind together)
You know what is best to do
Bring forth love, hidden deep
In his arms, she doth keep
Cinnamon now join the mix (add cinnamon and grind)
With your power together fix
Rue in all your divine grace (add rue and grind)
Join these two and time not waste
Two apart now join as one (add juniper berries - grind)
Under Moon and under Sun
Never more shall they be part
With love that's pure and true of heart (on "pure" add salt and at end add the stone)
Place the mixture with the stone into the pouch/locket and drip three drops of wax onto the opening. If you used a locket, quickly wipe any wax that dripped beyond the opening so that the seal remains. The subject should carry or wear this charm until his/her desire has been fulfilled.

Pet Spells
Thank You Friend
- 3 candles (1 white anointed with lavender oil, 1 brown anointed with orange & jasmine oil, 1 pink anointed with ylang-ylang & lemon oil)
- incense of lavender, vanilla and thyme
- 1/16 cup mixture of coarse salt with pinch of crushed rue (you can replace rue with lavender, vervain, valerian, or cinnamon)
- 1 dish loamy Earth (North)
- 1 dish spring water (West)
- 1 red candle (South)
- 1 holder burning incense (East)
Cast your Circle (indoors or out as you would normally do) at dusk during a waxing moon. Mark the Quarters with the appropriate items. Use your favourite invocation to call the Quarters, or use this one (beginning in the East ending at the North):
Guardian of the (#) please hear my call
Witness this blessing as night is to fall
Lend me Your wisdom and power and might
So I may give thanks to my friend tonight
Light the candles and incense then invoke the Lord and Lady with your own invocation, or these ones:

Kneel before the altar in front of your familiar if possible. The familiar may be held in your arms if it doesn't disturb him/her.

This is best performed at night during a waning moon.
Mix the herbs and oil then anoint the candle while you visualize its power growing and drawing the negative energy out of your body. Place the candle near an open window say something like this:

- 1 Glass bottle with tight fitting cap or cork
- 1 Fishing hook

Place all the objects into the bottle and cork/cap it. Seal the cork/cap with wax from altar candles. Say the following:

Character Spell - Hare Moon

You can bless seeds with qualities that you want to grow within yourself. Start by choosing a quality - in this example I'll use kindness, but it can be anything. As you hold the seed say something like:
You are the kindness that will grow in me
As you flourish in the ground; so mote it be
Plant the seed and tend to it through its life. As it grows, so too will that quality within you.

Character Spell - Ostara
- eggs, hardboiled (as many eggs as you have traits to add)
- white wax candle or white crayon
- natural dyes (colours depend on traits)
Choose one or two qualities you would like to add to your character or your life, like passion or money. Write these qualities singly onto boiled eggs with wax or a white crayon before dyeing them the appropriate colour (red for passion and green for money - see the colour correspondence chart accessible from the Resources page). Bless each egg by saying something like the following:
With coloured shell fertility
Bring into me this quality
Grow from seed and into higher
Consumed by me with this desire
Then eat each egg and know that those qualities you wanted to possess are now within you and will grow through the year.

Purification Bath
- 1/2 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar (organic)
- 1 handful of fresh Eucalyptus leaves
- 1 handful of fresh Rue leaves
- 3 pinches of Salt
- 1 Quart of Water
Add the herbs to the vinegar and let sit overnight. Strain the vinegar through a cheesecloth and add it to the water with the salt.
Use this mixture to purify all sorts of objects. Add 1/2 cup of this to a bath as a very mild tincture.

Releasing Negativity - Oak Moon
- 1 white candle
- 1 candleholder decorated with holly
Think of a problem or a bad habit you want to rid yourself of and "assign" it to this candle. Light the candle while saying something like:
With strength of heart I break free
from this unwanted negativity
You have no hold, you have no power
I release you now so I can start over
Let the candle burn all the way down, then take the holly and throw it into the fire (fireplace, ritual fire, or burned in a fire-safe container). Scatter the ashes on the wind and feel the new start in your heart.

Rid Yourself of Bad Habits - Imbolc
- several small bits of straw
- black ribbon cut into 3" pieces
Tie small bits of straw together with black ribbon. Think of a different bad habit or character trait you want to rid yourself of as you do each one. Throw them into the fire and after each say something like:
Fire engulf the useless and bad
These parts not needed, desperate and sad
As with all that is worthless, their time is now due

Transformation Charm - Honey Moon
This being a time of transformation means it's also an excellent time to change aspects of ourselves as well. To aid you in your transformation, try making a special charm. You will need:
- 1 small cloth or knit pouch;
- Symbols of transformation (egg shells, cocoons, etc.);
- 1 strand of your hair.
Place the pouch on your altar with candles lit and say something like this:
Gathered together, these things transformed
Lend me your power so I too am reformed
Into the person I know I can be
Bring me forth, a new reality
Then leave the pouch on the altar until the candles have burnt down. Carry the pouch with you until your objective has been acheived.

Chaste Moon Wish Ritual

- several strips of paper
Take a trip to a nearby stream or any body of running water (careful in areas prone to flooding). When you arrive, take a minute to write down some of your most pressing needs (help with finances or family issues, inspiration, the ability to solve a specific problem, etc.) then toss them into the water while you say something like the following:
Blessed Water, to you I invest
My deepest wishes, needs and requests
On your waves to the stars above
My dreams are carried with strength and love

Grind the above dried herbs into a fine powder while saying the following:

Witches' Wish Bottle
- 1 dark blue candle
- 1 orange candle
- Vanilla incense
- 1 glass bottle (preferably orange or blue) with tight fitting cap/cork
- 1 piece of paper (large enough to write your wish 3 times, but small enough to fit in the bottle)
- 1 blue ink pen
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 budding dandelion top
- 1 pinch each sage and violet
- Sufficient water to fill the bottle 3/4 of the way or to cover the paper
- 1 small stone corresponding to your wish

Place the blue candle on the left and the orange candle to the right with the incense between them on your altar or work surface. Light the three and begin thinking about your wish. As the incense burns, write your wish on the paper three times. Remember to keep your wish as simple and straightforward as possible.
When done, hold the stone in your hand and say the following as you visualize what it will be like once your wish has come true:
Stone of wishes, pure in hue
Help to make my wish come true
Position the stone on the edge of your wish paper and roll up the paper tightly with the stone ending up in the centre and give the ends a twist to keep the stone in place. Insert it into the bottle.
Add the herbs then slowly add the water so that it fills the bottle 3/4 of the way and/or covers the rolled up wish paper. Cork/cap the bottle and seal it with three drops of blue wax and three drops or orange wax while saying the following:
Sealed within this bottle deep
Is the dearest wish I seek
Power of pen on paper scribe
Herb and stone in glass I bide
My heart's desire frozen thus
In the hands of the Divine I trust
Unto me with your kindness great
Treasured wish into fruition take
Place the bottle in the farthest corner of your freezer. Do not disturb it until after your wish has come true. At that point dispose of the bottle without breaking the seal. Thank the Lord and Lady for their kindness and love.
If your wish doesn’t seem to come true within one full turn of the moon, then repeat this spell paying particular attention to how your wish is written and how clear your visualizations are.

Wolf Moon Apple Wreath
- An apple for each member of your family (including yourself)
- 1 piece of wire bent into a loop
Begin by blessing the apples and the wire loop on your altar by saying:
Apples round and pure and true
Lend me your love and securely renew
The harmony of our family ring
Through your goodness now doth bring
Slice the apples crosswise so that you can see the pentagram formed by the core and seeds then place the slices on a baking sheet and sprinkle them liberally with ground cinnamon and cardamom.
Bake the slices in the oven for about two hours at 65ºC (150ºF). When done, take them out and let them cool.
Finally string the slices onto the wire ring and twist the ends of the ring together to secure the apples. You can decorate the ring with pine or ribbons then display it in a prominent place in your home.
